Cat sucking clothing?

2782 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  pets4me
My friend has a cat a little less then a year old. My friend says sometimes when the cat is on her lap or in her arms it sucks on her shirt or sweater, whatever she happens to be wearing at the time. Why does he do that?

One of my cats used to drool a lot (may be mistaken for sucking). Apparently that also is a sign of being taken away from their mother too soon. Drooling when being comforted or sleeping shows that they are preparing to suckle.

But I suppose all cats are still partially kittens. The kneeding they do is what kittens do to their mother's teets to stimulate milking.
