I have another question, how can I get my cat to lose weight? I have her on Iam's Weight Control and do not feed her too much of it, yet I think she is still gaining weight.

We did just buy a harness and leash for her and tried taking her for a walk...but that's going to take a lot of practice.[/i]

From what i have understood from doing a lot of reading about weight loss kitties who eat a diet of wet food have pretty good success with weight loss. My kitty probably has 3-4 extra pounds on him so I am trying to get him to loose weight too.

Good luck!!

PS sometimes the "lite" dry food can make kitty gain not loose

As Malcolmsmom mentioned, the best way to get your cat to lose weight is to switch them over to wet food. Wet food has far less calories than dry and so your cat will feel more full, eat less and lose weight. Don't forget that any weight loss program should be supervised by a vet because too rapid of weight loss can cause severe health problems. I aimed for a loss of 1/2 lb a month with my kitties. A good way to see if she is gaining again is just to weigh her at the vet's office. I weigh my kitties every 3-4 weeks to make sure their weight is dropping at the proper rate. These checks are free so it is very simple.
