I know all cats are different but generally speaking, around when do kitties start to "enjoy" catnip? I bought the girls some catnip stuffed toys the other day (more because they're cute and have bells on the end of their tails than for the catnip) and the girls will occasionally play with them but that's about it. FYI Rosalie is 7 months old and Zoey's 5.5 months. Our old cat, Alizea, started to 'feel the effects" of nip around 6 months old.

The published statistics say about half of cats have the "catnip gene".
I think it's more than that, like 60 or 70%.
But I really don't know when they become sensitive to catnip. No doubt someone more knowledgeable will chime in

Ive tried both dried and spray and she's not interested. She enjoyed the dried the first day and has since ignored it completely. She's 8 months. About a gene being present, how could she react fairly strongly the first day but never since?

I've had 2 cats and neither of them had the catnip gene at all. I still haven't seen a "this is your cat, this is your cat on drugs" scenario play out!
