My Tuxedo house cat of 10.5 years passed last month of CRF. Very sad. Unfortunately I found out 3 years ago cats and dogs are on my long list of allergies. I am taking allergy shots and hope to someday over come them. I would rather rescue another tuxedo like my last two have been but due to allergies I have been considering purchasing an Ocicat or a Bengal. I have heard they affect allergies less. Anyone with allergies have feedback or either one?

Haven't heard that Ocicat or Bengel is hypoallergenic, but have heard that the Siberian breed is one that is, and has a fairly tangle-free coat even though it's a longhair. You would have to visit a breeder in person to see whether you are allergic or not. I think there is some test to see if you are allergic to its saliva.

Here are a couple of descriptions of the breed by two different cat assolciations:

The International Cat Fanciers Assoc. (TICA)
