I was cutting Spencers front claws today and i noticed that there was a claw growing out of the pad on the side of his paw. It wasn't his othere claws growing in wrong because all of his 'normal" claws are there. It must have just showed up because i just noticed it. Any info and suggestions would help.

is he a polydactyl? that may answer your problem.

That would be my thought too-if he's young, and you never saw it before. It's a puzzle!

My guess would be that it's a wart, not a claw. Pad warts can look kind of like deformed claws though. If there's any question, have your vet take a look!

It must hurt! Plantar warts hurt because we're walking on them all of the time, so I imagine your cat would be glad to get rid of it!

I asked the vet today while i was there and she said that he is just polydactil. She told me that if it is not causing him pain that i shouldn't worry about it.

That's nice! I think they're special. I ran across one one Zane's Trace (route 22) in Ohio at a rest stop. My son and I shared our sandwiches with him, and I really wanted to take him home, but there was no way to find out it he was someone's pet. For those of you in Ohio, it was the rest stop by the lake, about halfway between Zanesville and the W. Virginia border. He was so sweet!
