My cat is 14 years old and has been with me from the time she was just a year old. She has begun to Meow constantly..... when I watch TV... she meows, when I have supper..... she meows, when I sleep ... she meows, even when I go to the washroom ... she is right there meowing. She paces constantly from room to room which indicates she is stressed ... for what reason I have no clue. It has gotten to the point that my friends don't like to come over because she drives us all crazy. It sounds very selfish of me to only consider my feelings but enough is enough. Although I love her, she is completely ruining the quality of my life and those around me. Is there any anti-anxiety, anti-co-dependant medication that I can give her? ...... I am seriously considering my options and my final option of putting her down would have me feeling guilty forever.

Anybody have any suggestions.

I would take it to the vet to make sure there are no internal issues making her meow so much. Feliway is known to have the calming effects on cats and also you can maybe see if she stops meowing when you feed her, or if you're in another room. Sometimes cats just want attention from you and they will keep meowing. Good Luck

I have noticed that the ONLY time she stops meowing is when she is laying beside me and I am petting her. If I stop petting her she jumps down and begins meowing until I call her back and begin petting her again. I know she loves me but, really, at what cost. I am writing this and her meow is sawing through my very last nerve. The vet has found nothing wrong with her and suggests I ignore it. The theory is much easier tahn the practice. I will try Feliway to see what relief that can grant me, if any. But I think we all know that I cannot be with her 24/7, and as much as I love her, I also love my friends family and girlfriend.

Have you ever had any other cats? Has your schedule changed so that you are home less? Any other things that might have triggered this constant need for attention?
It might help for you to get another cat to keep this one company. But I am not sure on that since she is an older kitty. Has she ever had any cat companions?
