I'm putting together a gift for my father, who was recently diagnosed with diabetes. The man LOVES his chocolate. My idea: dehy bananas, pineapples, other fruits, and possibly candy-chocolate maybe?-that's safe for diabetics, and has some flavor!
Instead I would suggest things like nuts, different types of jerky, and maybe a FEW of the fruits thrown in.
Fruits are hard to manage for a 'new' diabetic imo. There is a lot of natural sugar in them. Diabetic chocolate is ok but it's very easy to overdo and the substitutes they use for sugar can do mean things to the gut in too large quantities.
