Hi there,
I came home the other day to quite a mess.. my new cat who is about 1 1/2 years old had a terrible bout of diarrea. She had gone on the floor and had trampled in it and lets say left quite a mess. The only other time i knew her to have diarrea was when i brought her home from the spca. I am thinking it was due to the change in food, because I must of been giving her a different brand then and i also just switched her to a different brand about a week ago. Is is bad to do this? and would this be the cause. I was reading on the bag I got that it recommended to slowly mix the old with the new. It was an awful mess. She used to have a litter box but now goes outside. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.. Thanks..

If she goes outside, she should be checked for parasites like worms and giardia, which can all cause diarrhea. However, a rapid diet change is almost guaranteed to do it!
