Do you get greeted at the door?

I always hear people say that they like dogs better because cats don't care whether you're home or not while a dog always greets them at the door.

Whenever I come home, I almost always have at least one cat at the door and often have all three of them come. If it's summer and they're in the open windows, they start rubbing up against the screen and meowing when they see me come back.

My Mom, who stays with me alot, says that when the garage door opens they run for the door, even when she is sitting right there with them. :D

They know who their mommy is. :D When I open the door, Thomas is sitting on the chair right next to it and sticks his head out to greet me as soon as I open the door. Kitty (who usually avoids moving to avoid Thomas) is usally sitting maybe 5 feet behind Thomas....keeping her options open in case he attacks, but she wants to greet me enough that she will come anyway. I love my girl.

Binx actually claimed a pillow that faces the door as "his spot" when mom and dad are gone. Skeeter sleeps wherever he feels like that day. But, when they hear the screen door open, they both usually come running to the front door to wait for it to open. Binx is there every time. The only time Skeeter doesn't come is when he's in a DEEP sleep. Even then, I'll stand near him and say his name and he still doesn't budge. Funny kids.

That reminds me...If I come home in the middle of a work day. Kitty will hide. I mean, really hide, under the couch or in the back of my closet, places she only goes when she's really upset. She knows that if I come home early, in all likelihood, she's going to the vet

Silly Kitty. The funny part is, she knows the difference between days when I go to work and weekend/vacation days. Smart!

Both our cats come running to the door when they hear the key in the lock. I can be in bed with both cats at the foot. As soon as my husband puts the key in the lock, both cats are gone.

They're the same way when someone knocks on the door. They go running. Taking it a step further, every time the phone rings, whether the land line or cell phone, Snowball goes running to it.

Sam and Suzy greets everyone that comes through the door. Even when they've been in deep sleep they throw themselves through the house to get to the door. Tails all high and welcoming.

Since I'm home all days, I don't get this greeting often. Although they seem to know how to tell time, because about 30 min before hubby comes home from work they start pacing around, looking at the door or towards the hallway to see if he's on his way or not. Then when they hear the door, they do the same thing, throws themselves at the door and starts meowing.

The meowing doesn't stop until hubby has taken off his shoes and clothes and given them some attention and cuddle.

The other day they really spooked me, they both sat and STARED at one spot in the hallway. I thought they saw a ghost or something, but hubby was a bit late from work and they were at full alert, waiting that hubby would come through the door any second.

Who needs a dog? :D

Everyone comes to greet me at the door every time. Kayla, Mozart, and Ginza wait for their head scritch before continuing. Pixie greets me with MYEP!, runs to sit next to her bowl and looks at me expectantly. Every single time.

Sometimes they'll greet hubby at the door, mostly not.

OMG, I don't get greeted, I get plowed when the door is opened. The four youngest absolutely HAVE to get outside right now!!
The others that are inside usually choose to go out, and those that are out will make their way back home to eat.
Most everyone has made an appearance within 10-15 minutes or so.

Jinx must here me coming, because he jumps into the front window (right by the door) and watches me walk up. Bu the time I have the door opened, he is down there rubbing against my legs. If I don't sit down and pet him, he will follw me around and rub against me until I do.

My mom tells me that Puma hears me when I pull up to our house, she is always waiting by the door when I come home. If I don't stop to pet her, she cries for love. It is a nice feeling knowing you are missed. :)

We usually get greeted by a huge kitty production, especially if we come home around dinnertime. Assumpta comes running to the door, blocks it with her body in an attempt to get to us, gives us the quivery tail, then she walks around in circles chirping and meowing, alternated with rolling and writhing around on the floor, waving her back paws in the air and rubbing her front paws all over her face (still chirping).

Then again, we don't get out much, so she probably just really notices it when we ARE gone.

Sometimes Baby will greet us. It depends if she tired, sleeping, she won't. Sometimes she's at the window & run for the door, other times she'll be close to the door. She loves a good chin scratch & she'll roll around to greet us.

Ginger always greets me at the door when I come home from work or if I've been out for more than an hour or so.
When I come home from work, there's a set routine - greet daddy at the door, get a brushing, get served dinner, go out for a walk (he doesn't always eat his dinner before going out, but he won't go out until it's served :) ).
Ginger also insists on ME greeting HIM when he comes back from a walk. If I don't give him a proper greeting, he gets mad and stalks back out :!:

my cats are usually sleeping when I get home. they seem to be able to sleep through any kind of noise. then come running from the opposite end of the house when I get their food bowls out! it would be fun to have them meet me at the door, but it's probably easier this way as I don't have to quite so cautious about them bolting out the door when I open it (coming in, anyway).

Minority always greets me at the door. Then he usually will try to climb up my leg. (he is only about 2months old, so I am trying to get him out of that nasty habit)
But he is always sitting somewhere he can see me when I come in and comes to me at any rate.

I think Scotty sleeps behind the door when it's his "late afternoon" nap. Sometimes, he'll sleep on the couch, but the end that's closest to the door. I don't always go home for lunch, so he doesn't tend to greet me then. *shrug* :D

Kiera hears the door to the building downstairs, then hears me coming up stairs, and then hears the key... so she has plenty of time to process that I'm home, and is often waiting by the door for me :). She's always sleepy, though, seomtimes I see her stretching by my bedroom door. Occaisionally, if she was REALLY sleeping, I'll find her curled up on my bed. But most often, she's at the door :)

I drive a diesel and when I pull in the drive way there is one oatmeal colored and one black sitting in the livingroom window waiting for me.
The others could care less.
