Do you think he's overweight?

Hi there! We got this little fellow about a month ago. When we picked him up (mom was not neutered, ran away and came back pregnant), he was the pick of the litter, really big compared to the rest of his sisters...

I'm concerned because I think my husband might be feeding him behind my back, like the other time he confessed giving him ham and tuna in some ocassions. He eats raw and dry and wants to eat all the freaking time.

I was also wondering if he's just "big" - he was supposed to be 6 weeks when we got him, but he looks older, or well, bigger.

What do you guys think? The truth is that I can't get a picture to reflect how chunky he "feels" he's just so heavy and round. He's very playful and active, but he takes more naps than my other cat.

Here are some pics. Also wondering what kind of cat is he? I know he's some sort of tabby/mix but what would you call him? He has huge paws and it's just bigger than the other cat's I've had at my parent's.

Thank you in advance!

First HE IS ADORABLE!!
Second, I always find it hard to tell with kittens because they have so much growing to do, and clearly he has BIG paws. He is gonna be big...And he has what looks like is gonna be a bushy tail...
In the pics he doesnt look overly heavy. Is it hard to feel his ribs or spine?

I can feel them, but not as easily! He's just so round around the stomach, it's like a big ball of fat whenever I pick him uo, he might look fluffy but he's not extremely fluffly, he's just chunky.

Should I be concerned if I have my husband feeding him midnight snacks? LOL He's adorable! Loves to cuddle, I also forgot to mention his name, he's Richard Parked, A.K.A. Ricky!

What kind of snacks does your husband feed him? Maybe try to get your husband to feed him healthy cat treats instead. PureBites Freeze Dried Chicken is what I use and the cats love it.

But anyway, he doesn't look fat to me. He still is a kitten and still is growing. Maybe he's just going to be a big cat!

What a cutie!

Has he been dewormed? In kittens round bellies can mean worms. It can also mean he's ready for a growth spurt...I've always found my kittens to be little pigs, get fat little bellies and then grow overnight.

I would not worry about a kitten having a big belly, it's perfectly normal. He looks like a normal, healthy kitten to me. I'd watch the human food (not a good habit to get him in), and as long as he's on a healthy cat food diet, he should be fine. And "human" canned tuna is not good for cats!

He looks like a regular domestic tabby to me (kinda like the one in my profile pic actually). :)

He is ENORMOUS!!! Out of control. The only hope he has is our world famous kitty spa and fat cat rehab center here in Southern California. Get him on a plane and send him to me, as soon as you can find one with a cargo area big enough for him.

Hurry!!!!

He is SOOOOO cute!!!!

He is very beautiful and looks perfect size/weight wise. Kittens are eating machines and he should have 3-4 meals a day whilst he is still growing.
One thing to watch though regarding midnight snacks/ unscheduled feeds / snacking .... your hubby may be setting up a future problem if Ricky gets used to being feed in the middle of the night he will continue to demand food at what is a very antisocial hour of the night!
Re cat treats vs human food - a wise thing to do as giving him human food can encourage scrounging off the counter top / your plates etc. Just something to consider. My guys are raw fed and I use Ziwipeak dehydrated raw treats for clicker training etc. They love them and I like the fact they aren't full of rubbish / carbs etc.
