My two girls have various problems.
Grace has a very delicate tummy. For months she vomited every morning and had a runny bum most days.
Poppy has a part of her soft palate missing which meant she choked on every wet food we tried her with, very distressing to watch !

After months of trial and error, the only thing they appear to thrive on is Hill's science Plan for Pops and James Wellbeloved for Grace.
Both dry foods.
Having read up on the dangers of dry foods I'm now really worried that I'm not doing whats really best for them !

Would be grateful for your thoughts..

Morning.
half an egg yolk mixed with luke warm water for both (seems to put a lining in their tummies and stops the morning vomiting)
Mid Morning..
10 grams of dried food each.
Lunch.
10 grams of dried food each.
Afternoon.
10 grams of raw beef or chicken each.
Evening.
10 grams of dried food each.
Late evening.
10 grams of dried food each.
Lots of fresh water available at all times with a couple of kibbles in it to entice water drinking which works.
Both girls have loads of energy, glossy coats and nice firm poos .
They very rarely choke or throw up !
Am I doing the right thing ?

I wouldn't put kibbles in their water, dry food is not meant to get wet and can grow bacteria very quickly. Do you have a water fountain? That seems to really encourage drinking.

Thanks for your reply. Oops I didn't know that about dry food.
Have tried a water fountain but neither cat would drink from it. We then tried mixing a little lactose free milk in with water, they loved it but it make them very loose at the other end!
Could anyone advise me of anything else I could flavour their water with.
Many thanks.

Increase the raw, decrease the kibble and you won't have to be so concerned about the amount of water they drink. And it's way better for them...

I would also switch to the raw earlier in the day and the dry later, since it can take 8 - 12 hours for a cat to digest the dry, and raw digests faster. eating dry first can actually increase the vomiting. Dry would have all night to digest this way. But go with whatever feed schedule does your girls the best good all over.
