Do your cats dribble/drool?

Bit of a random question..

Do your cats dribble?

All 3 of mine do! Only when they are very happy and enjoying a really good cuddle/tickle but when I first noticed it I was surprised.

Tinker has always dribbled.. a lot! So much that when he shakes his head it flings everywhere (It's not slob like a dog, just a clear liquid).

The kittens have on recently started dribbling but I think it's since they have slowed down enough to enjoy a good cuddle.

It always starts of as a bead of liquid from either the sides or the front of their mouths but sometimes I call Tinker the water feature because it's so much!

Is it a sign of a happy and relaxed cat?

When they're drooling like that only when they are happy and enjoying themselves it is only a sign that they are relaxed and enjoying themselves yes! :) I have had several such droolers, it is certainly not unusual! Both Leo and Viola do, Viola just as much as Tinker :)

I worried it was a health problem at first with Tinker but then when the kittens started doing it I thought it had to be normal-ish!

I've never had cats before and I never thought of a cat dribbling before. It's quite cute :)

Your Tinker and my B.B. must have been separated at birth! LOL .. and have you noticed if it hits you, it always feels cold? Like, I always thought it should be warm or something.. (laughing)
The kittens are just 9 mo. so drooling hasn't happened yet that I have noticed. They still are either flying about or sleeping, nothing in between yet.

Lol! Yeah! The first time I got some on my arm I looked straight up at the ceiling like I had a leak or something. I thought I was going mad! Then when Tinker got up off the bed there where all these little wet patches. It is always cold and I always assumed it would be sticky and smell but it doesn't. It's just like water.

The kittens started dribbling at about 7 months old. Not half as much as Tinker because they can only sit still for 10 minutes before they run around like crazy things again!

I love watching the little beads of liquid form and then I squish their cheeks more and more drips out (lol I sound like a fruit cake!)

Penny's background info from the shelter included a line: "Shy cat, drools excessively when frightened or very happy."

I've never seen Penny drool. But apparently she did as a younger lady. (Or maybe I'm just not making her very happy.) :(

haha...I was about the ask the same question, cos ET does drool and I see saliva on the floor, tabletop and when he shakes his head near me, I got it and I actually thought he has oral problem. Checked, looked alright and now I know its normal, lol.

3 of my 4 drool when purring up a storm (no pun intended)....the females more than the male. Maybe he thinks it is unmacho! I was brushing Lilah today and she was kneading and purring. I saw the drip forming so I watched. Just before it hit the bed, she caught it and slurped it back in swallowed......smacking her lips and licking her lips! Cutest darn thing!
My son's cat curls up on his lap and drools so much he has to change his shirt when one of them finally move! Glad mine aren't that bad!

Now that we're past the "let's see who goes to the emergency room" stage in our relationship, Midnight, the wild cat, drools when I scratch his neck. Then he shakes his head and sprays the drool all over. We have come to a stage of mutual trust. Who would have thought that the celebration would involve drool? :D
