Hey guys!
So Asia and Seamus need your help once again. I unfortunately relate them to dogs somehow because I have worked with behaviorist for my dog so I keep pulling from that but it feels just wrong for the cats and it is but it confuses me. I keep thinking also that Asia may think like a dog because she has lived with dogs and no other cats for ten years.
So the good news is that 95% of the time Seamus and Asia do really well together... they ignore eachother and go to their separate corners.. they sleep alot lol. But at night and in the morning( mainly in the mornings) Asia is a bully. She knows when we wake up that we are all going down the stairs to go eat. She attacks the dog for trying to go down the stairs... and occasionally will hiss and swat at Seamus for going down the stairs. I believe she truly enjoys this. Today she pounced on him and attacked him on the stairs... both came out unharmed but even though the attacks are infrequent... they seem to become more severe... Seamus continues to just flee instead of fight back, which I am torn about... part of me from a dog mommy view is that if he stood up to her she would stop... but he has FIV and I fear him fighting her.
like 2 weeks ago... Asia hunted Seamus and went into his safezone( under the kitchen table) and pounced on him. I intervened and freaked on her... but then pulled out a feather to drain that energy. ever since if I just see that look she gets the feather... that has completely solved that issue now it is just the mornings... she has done this to the dog since we got him... we have made excuses like oo she is scared of his size... she doesnt like how energetic he is.. but clearly she is just a bully lol. I love my baby and in my eyes she can do no wrong but I want Seamus to be happy in our home too... and my hubby is fed up with her behavior... probably years of me telling him she didn't mean it lol.
Right now Seamus is very much a bush dweller... he does come out and seek us out for attention so I don't feel like he has a huge confidence issue. But what I have seen on jackson galaxy is that they have to get up high and confident so other cats don't see them as prey?... I keep telling J that we need a second cat tree... one just for Seamus.. and he knows its true its just the money... we have even thought of making our own... but it costs money too.. much much less though... do you think giving him a high place will help her attacking him? the morning thing seems to be pretty consistent.. and then the rest of the day is fine... they even sleep on my bed together at night... last night they looked at eachother.. they usually hiss and then sleep but last night they looked and just curled up... it saddens me that you see great progress but at the same time I see Asia getting more severe with her bullying... any ideas
