The past week my cat has been 'drooling'. It's like his salivary glands just don't quit. The vet told me to check his teeth and asked if he's messed with any foreign substances...like cleaners, etc. I couldn't find anything wrong with his teeth, and as for the cleaners, well...my basement is your typical garage.

One thing I did notice is he's been playing around with moths and beetles that get in the house. Would that cause it?

I'm not sure whether eating insects will cause this but I do know that this can be a sign of gingivitis. Does he have bad breath as well, and does his teeth have tartar on them and the gums look swollen? That's all I could think it might be...

Ok, thanks for the advice. I think what may have happened was he chewed on something a little too hard, causing one of his gums to bleed some. This seems to have stopped, along with the drooling. I'll keep that in mind about the plants too.

Oral hygiene is very important with cats. One site I read stated that carrots can reduce tartar build up on your cat's teeth, and also helps freshen their breath. Most cats drool when they have something foreign on their fur (they droll when you spray them for fleas). Could have been that your cat came into contact with some sort of poisonous plant that it rubbed up against.
