Hello,
My girlfriend has an old cat (approx 17) that has diabetes.
The cat, Marley, mainly eats wet (canned) food, and has a good appetite.
When we're out at work, is there a good dry food we can leave for him?
Many thanks http://www.**********.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Richard,

The short answer is no, there isn't a dry food that is suitable for diabetic cats. Just leave canned food out for the cat while you're at work. If you mix it into a soup with warm water, it will remain fresh and edible for a number of hours.

The following link will provide you with all the information you need about food for diabetic cats:

The experts will chime in, but I've left out wet food all day before, the last of which Murphy eats 6 or 7 hours after I put it there in the morning, and nothing bad has ever happened.

I really don't know what the alternative would be, since I feed Murphy the wet before leaving for work in the morning, and he has always been a grazer who eats just a bite or two at a time.

I put wet food out for my girls when I leave for work, too.
