Any fairs, festivals, or fun events going on in your area?

The Greek Summerfest is happening at a Greek Orthodox church just down the street, Gyros, lemonshakes and baklava!

Tomorrow begins the Youngstown State University summer festival of the arts.

Also starting this weekend-my fave-the Great Lakes Medieval Faire!

Plus, West Side Cats is having a motorcycle run on the 20th...

Our DaVinci Days are coming up soon. It's the most wonderful amazing summer festival ever. The things they invent for the race are simply amazing!! Hopefully the temps will come down so I can enjoy it. I was HOPING to take MowMOw this year in his stroller.

The rodeos are everywhere in Oregon during the summer and ours is this weekend. As Rodeos go, it's very humane compared to others but... I'd get upset seeing those poor animals working so hard in this heat so I doubt I'll be going.

Just a few art shows and stuff I'll probably hit. The Saturday morning market is always fun for MowMOw. It's along the river and there is always tons of live music and stuff.

That's about it for me.

I wanted to try and get to the NH League of Craftsmen Fair this year, I haven't been for years. This is not your typical crafts fair...the people that sell their work here are true artists. I don't know if I'll be able to make it because I'll be away for most of the week that the fair is being held and when I get back it looks like there is only one day that I might be able to break away.

Doodlebug, I feel your frustration! Sisters, Oregon has a quilt show every year, it is now the biggest in the States! I've wanted to go for a long time, and every single time, it's been held...I'm working!

Seattle has Seafair all summer long, from June~August! It's basically a boat race with the main feature of hydroplane boat racing. Other fun features are "Pirates" landing our shores, a parade, and ends with a bang with the Blue Angels performing their aerodynamic performances over Lake Washington. Always a show-stopping event to watch; featuring their classic diamond formation flying and leaving contrails in the air! Bridges are specifically closed in preparations for the air show to prevent drivers from getting into accidents!

Very short clip of Pirates landing in Seattle:2014 - Seafair Pirates Landing - YouTube
Loooong vid of Blue Angels performance from 2012: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IQr_uIAGaE
***Note: Air show begins around the 10 minute mark but my favorite maneuver starts from 18:30~19:10.

Today they're having the summer festival of the arts on Youngstown State University campus.

SO much to see! Paintings sculpture, music... They've got African drums India/n string instruments, a band for the kids, and lots of good eats!

Da Vinci Days sounds SO kewl!

I just found out something about the Medieval Faire. This year, only 1 pet per pet owner, and you have to sign a waiver.

I don't really blame the faire, it's the people in town that stir up trouble. Why? The faire is such a boost to the local economy!

Now...would different members of a family be different pet owners?

Kurt,
Oh yeah...different members in a family, can be, different pet owners...
And can undermine any training you do!! Very frustrating! :banghead:

Me and My buddy Norm are planning to go to GLMF next Saturday.

This year they're having archery and siege engine demos.

There was a comic sword fighting team that used to perform at the faire, Hack and Slash. Hack retired. They were incredible! Cracking a bullwhip, lying on a bed of nails, 'near misses' while drinking beer and swinging swords! Has anyone ever caught their act?

Did the medieval faire on Saturday! As far as ENTERTAINMENT went, it was great! The Donnegal Dogs, an Irish group, dressed up like pirates and became the Plunder Dogs. Silent Lion returned. Broon and Slash performed (Hack retired last Christmas), The Washing Well Wenches, Axel The Sot... great stuff.

But, I didn't see the falconry demonstrations this year, they didn't have the joust or the king's table dinner theater.

They DID have the combat chess, siege engines, and an archer who could hit a target from quite a distance. He shot from across the field, then from OFF of the field, then from the parking lot!

Anyone here from the Society of Creative Anachronisms?
