Fancy Feast Wet Food

I finally found a wet cat food that Tessie will eat! But I'm not to happy that about what kind it is...
My Mom went out and bought a huge box of Fancy Feast at BJ's. She insisted that I try it since Tessie does not really like wet food. Well guess what, first can, she ate it all!! I was amazed... This morning a new flavor and she ate it all again!
So since I would like Tessie to be on mostly wet food for her diet I guess I'll have to feed her this... Does anyone else here feed Fancy Feast? I am not happy with the ingredients at all but happy to see her eating wet food.

I would suggest buying a better wet food and mixing in just a tiny bit each day with the Fancy. Every few days increase the better food just a little bit. Even if she's eating a 50/50 mix it'll be healthier for her. She might even be fooled into eating the good stuff by itself.

I have tried that before with no luck but thank you for the suggestion MowMow :)
I want to give her something she enjoys and eats with enthusiasm. She won't be with me for very much longer because of her cancer and I want to make sure she eats her little heart out and doesn't loose weight. (right now she is very healthy but later down the road it will be a different story). So I am trying to think ahead....
I have tried in the past to feed her the "high quality" wet food with no luck. Why force her to eat something now that she doesn't like and or want to eat... That's just how I'm thinking right now. I just want to make sure it's going to be OK feeding her the FF and she will also be getting her EVO dry to pick at during the day.

Fancy Feast is like drugs! All the kitties go crazy over it.

I read somewhere that some variety of FF is better than others. At least she enjoys eating it, and it's probably better than some dry food :)

I'm sorry that she is ill. I think it's best if she can enjoy the food, so let her have her FF, I'd say.

At this point just let her eat whatever she likes. I went through this last year with Ziggy when he had been diagnosed with cancer. I tried switching him to Wellness but all he would eat was Friskies. I figured it was a good thing as long as he was eating something. I did take him off dry food and I think that helped him live a month longer than the vet expected.

IMO in your particular situation, you should just be feeding Tessie whatever she's willing to eat.

I'm not a fan of Fancy Feast normally, but when it comes to food quality, the concern is more about long-term health. Given the nature of Tessie's illness, I would just focus on making her happy and comfortable in the present moment rather than trying to adjust her diet.

I would also give her what he wants, and if it's ff, then ff it is. My feral, Arwen, all she will eat is ff. I have tried everything to get her to eat better, but she won't touch anything else....and she will only eat certain flavors in the ff. I don't worry about her though, because she does eat things that she catches outside as well, in fact, she sometimes gobbles up her ff, but sometimes she doesn't touch it, but I will see her eating a squirrel (yuck) or some other goodie. I would do the same thing as you and give Tessie exactly what she wants. You are such a good cat mommy.

I agree with everyone else. Feed Tessie whatever she wants, including as much Fancy Feast as she's willing to eat. That said, if she continues to eat FF well, I would remove the EVO from her diet. If I remember correctly, carbs feed cancer cells, and any kibble, including EVO, is likely to have more carbs that canned foods.

I feed both FF and Friskies canned to my geriatrics who have difficulty maintaining weight and who will only pick at raw, though I do try to mix in as much EVO canned with the FF and Friskies as I can get away with.

I always try to feed the "best" diet to my cats, but they have taught me that the "best" diet is the diet that they will eat!

that's almost the only food my first cat would eat. he died at 17 in '06 and i doubt if it was related to FF. i fed it to all my existing cats as well, the only reason i don't now is because i successfully weaned all of them off it and when i had some left over, it made their poo really smelly and soft. but there are far worse foods and if it's all she wants and is ill, i'd let her have whatever she will eat. i also mixed it with some foods i had a lot of, like before grain, that they wouldn't eat otherwise but i have mostly found out what they will eat and what they won't.

when it comes to the appetizers (the tiny plastic containers that go on sale for .99 but are usually at least 1.39 for 3 oz.), weruva is less expensive, just so you know.
