That is really sad! If they would have left him alone in the begining he would have been better off altogether.

However, since they did capture him and he lived in captivity his whole life I think it is equally as sad that they put him back into the wild (I forget excatly how old?...) 25 years later! He didnt want to be left there, he wanted to be with the trainers he grew to love! It would be like haveing a dog until middle age then letting him go outside to live! What does it matter if you are still feeding him if his heart is broken.

Also they said a whales natural life span is only 37 years, he was almost that age, only a few years shy.
