I recently adopted a 6 month old female kitten and also have two 7.5 year old male cats. I started the kitten on Iams kitten food and the boys eat Iams Reduced Calorie (?) or is it Less Active?...one of those - can't recall at the moment. Anyhow, the kitten was really into her kitten food at the beginning but now prefers the boys' food. She gets fed once in the morning and once in the evening and the boy's get fed once in the evening (same time as kitten). I can get her to eat her kitten food in the morning but once she smells the other food in the evening, she won't touch her kitten food. Actually, the boys have started to eat her kitten food. Any suggestions on how I can best handle this? The boys certainly don't need the extra calories from the kitten food and she certainly doesn't need the reduced-calorie food. Thanks.

I would suggest putting all of them on an all-canned diet using an all-life-stages food. Overweight cats usually lose weight once you get them off the high-carb dry foods.

For the reasons why, and for more info than you probably want about feline nutrition, see our free article library at http://www.littlebigcat.com/?action=library

Cheers,
