I often use baby food when my cats won't eat. I don't think there is anything bad about baby food.
Just make sure to not get onions in the food.

Bad, bad, bad. Look for all-meat baby food. It comes in several different flavors, without any additives.

Don't feed baby food for more than two or three days because it doesn't have the nutrients that are vitally important for cats.

Look for all-meat canned cat food (adult formula is fine) and make an effort to introduce your kitten to that. Your kitten desperately needs a nutritionally sound diet and that pouched junk is really not good enough. You can do better than that.

 

I also look for "organic" on the label when I but baby food for the cats.

 

My vet recommended baby-food all meat for my cat when she was having trouble adjusting to her new canned cat food. She had very loose stools and a little vomiting after eating. I was told to feed this to her for 3 days and then try the new cat food again. I bought Gerber turkey 2nd foods . It worked to settle her stomach. Now she is happily back to eating only her Wellness canned food. She did love the baby food.

 

well, he doesn't want to eat anything now, so i need to know if it's okay to force feed wet food, he's getting worse.

 

The poor kitty. What kind of illness does he have? Is he at least drinking water?

 

Slick, PLEASE, if your kitten is at home, get him back to the vet IMMEDIATELY without a moment's delay.

And talk to the vet about a referral to s specialist NOW. If you don't do everything in your power to get your kitten to another vet there is a good chance you may lose him.

Do not try to force feed, pack up your kitten and take him back to the vet NOW! PLEASE!

 

well, after $1100 of vet procedure the vet can't pinpoint the problem except it's an infection, anyway, i will try to force feed a small can of wet food and hopefully he will come around, i think he still drinks, i will call the vet again tomorrow though and let her know after 3 days in the hospital he's still sick, i'm so mad right now.

 

PLEASE call the vet NOW and tell her the kitten is not eating.
The vet needs to know what's going on and decide what to do next.

You cannot force feed ordinary wet food, give up on that useless idea.

You need to talk to the vet and get special food and detailed instructions if you want to attempt to force feed at home. No matter what, you need to contact your vet ASAP. For heaven's sake, do it! NOW!

 

I agree. I would call the Vet and see what they recommend to do. Ask about the baby food too if he would eat a little of that. Most important to get water so he doesn't get dehydrated so good if he is still drinking. Keep us updated Slick.

 

yeah i would, but she's off today, first thing in the morning and i will ask for a special food for force feeding.

 

She is not the only vet who is working at that hospital, is she?
You should have no problem, none whatsoever, getting help from whoever is there today.

 

there are few vets but she manages the place, i think it's okay until tomorrow morning, if he worsens i be able to take him there on emergency.

Nah...there are more than that....any of the Gerber all meat baby foods are good...they come in Chicken, Beef, Lamb, Turkey, Ham, and Veal. All they contain are meat and water/broth.

 

I have force fed one of my cats both regular canned food and baby food. Talk to your vet and see what they say. Also, you don't want to force feed unless you know what you are doing.
In my own personal situation which may or may not have any relation to anyone else who might possibly be reading this. I don't hesitate to force feed one of my cats. For this particular cat, not eating is REALLY REALLY bad, getting food-any food-into her stomach (again MY cat) outweighs any risks.

until i get his problem sorted out i need to get some food in his system, i scruff him and the other one opens the mouth and feed with spoon and licks it off, if that's the main concern in force feeding.

 

No the main concern with force feeding is having the food go into the lungs rather than the esophogus.
As long as he is licking it himself, that shouldn't be an issue.
With mine I use a syringe and squirt the food in. That's where the danger is.
