What are you treating the eye with? Oral antibiotics, eye drops? You can try giving the cat colloidal silver internally and drops in the eyes. (5ml orally 2-3 times a day and drops 3-4 times a day). I really like Utopia Silver. You can order online. An 8oz bottle should last you a long time if you're just using it for your cat. I had a rescued feral kitten that had frequent eye infections and the vet suspected herpes infection too. We finally got it cleared up by giving her oral antibiotics along with ophthalmic ointment and I gave her colloidal silver internally and in her eyes too. It's been more than 10 years and she's not had a recurrence.

Colloidal silver is naturally antiviral and antibacterial and enhances the efficacy of antibiotics.
