Well we went to the shelter today to find Maleke a buddy. We found a 6 month old female (she looks like Barnaby or Psi...same colouring but has green eyes). The lady at the shelter had fostered her and her 3 siblings. She said that the kitten we want is the least affectionate but VERY playful and funny. She thinks that this kitten would be a great playmate for Maleke, but we can't expect her to be very affectionate towards us. She also said that you have to get down to her level when you walk in a room, and that she gets scared when she is picked up (she doesn't scratch or bite but it's more of a "you're going to kill me!" fear). Has anyone had a feral kitten or know how to help them to become more tame? She looks like a great match for our monkey.....I'm just not sure.

I used to live out in the middle of nowhere and people would drop off kittens.... they would become so crazy. I tamed many cats. It requires a lot of patience. One thing I would do is after they were used to seeing me, I would give them some food and creep my way up to pet them while they ate. This gave them some positive vibes about being near me. I also was not aggressive to pick them up. I wanted them to feel like they wanted to be petted by me before I started picking them up. Sometimes, it would take weeks to get a few pets in though.
