A few days ago there was a firework display at night near my house that went well into the early morning. My cat was terrified and wouldn't come out from under the bed. I can imagine it's going to be a lot worse on November 5th. I'm not saying people shouldn't celebrate, but some fireworks are very noisy and frightening to animals. Also, a new shop has opened in the high street which sells fireworks all year round. I was a bit worried when I saw it, because the age restriction laws concerning fireworks aren't always followed, and there have been lots of stories of people throwing fireworks at pets. Last year, a group of teenagers tied fireworks to a cat! I can't help feeling it's only a matter of time before something like that happens again...
