Fish?

950 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  CJinCA
I saw in another thread for a cat with a UTI to avoid fish. This cat was a feral cat, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the situation. I didn't want to hijack that thread, so I'm starting this one.

Why is it bad to feed a cat who gets UTIs fish in their food?

Fish and Cats: Not a Good Thing

Here is a link that explains why it's not a good idea to feed cats fish.

Why Fish is Dangerous for Cats | Little Big Cat

One reason cats love fish is because of its strong taste and smell. (I use the most smelly fish I can find to trap cats [TNR].)
I don't like fish. Its gross and it smells and fish based food makes him stink.
I love fish. It's wonderful and tastes yummy.

I don't feed it to my darling cats though.
I personally love fish, and if its good and fresh, it doesn't smell bad - I'm fortunate to live near the Pacific ocean, so getting good fresh fish is not an issue. For my kitties, however, they get fowl or mammal. They can have fish for a very occasional treat.
