Hi

I have an 8 wk old kitten named Luna, I feed her Iams kitten food and I was wondering if its ok to give her treats @ this age? Someone told me that I should hold off for a bit until she is about a month old or so because it will ruin her diet and she'll get fat.

BTW what's a good qaulity kitten food, dry.

Thank you.

Thx for your help AngelZoo, I never realized that Iams have and do all those things. It's a good thing you mentioned that. :)

I noticed that you live in the States, I on the other hand live in Toronto, Canada so I'm not too familiar with those brands you listed, unless of course we don't sell them up here :) so that could be the other reason. However a brand that I've heard of and that we sell is "Science Diet". Are they any good? :?:

Science Diet really isn't very good. It has a lot of filler and by-products. I know AngelZoo doesn't like Nutro Max or Nutro Natural, but I think that both are well priced, have a good balance of meat/fiber, and are pretty easy to find. Yes, it includes corn gluten meal, but that is not the same thing as ground corn or corn meal.

I feed my 13 week old kittens NutroMax dry (I wanted Nutro Natural, but no one near me carries it) and Wellness canned. I have done lots of research and while I would never feed my cats something from the grocery store, I feel that a by-product free food is perfectly acceptable.
