Graveyard of toys

I got home yesterday and found Aloo missing her collar. I looked high and low to no avail...then I looked under the dishwasher........

There I found about 4 plastic spring toys and 1 stuffed angry bird toy. That was the tip of the iceberg. From underneath the stove, I recovered about 6-7 plastic spring toys, 1 crinkled paper ball, 1 metallic pom pom, and 1 feathered mouse toy.

I had been wondering where all the toys went! And that's not everything that's missing. The rest of the missing are still silently sleeping in the graveyard of toys.... *cue for creepy music*

Those who are wondering about mysterious disappearing of toys, check under the stove and dishwasher. You might just find them there...

P.S. The collar was under the refrigerator door. I found it when I went to quench my thirst.

Lol, yeah, we've gone through a ton of the 99¢ fur mice over the years. Sometimes they emerge from under hard to access pieces of furniture, disguised as dust bunnies, but I think most of them have ended up in another dimension with all the mismatched socks that seemingly vanish right out of the clothes dryer. Ramona absconded with everyone's favorite mouse more than 6 months ago--I know what room she stashed it in, and that room has since been completely cleaned and redecorated, but the mouse is just gone.

I've always considered the stove and refrigerater the Bermuda Triangle Zone
for cat toys that go missing!

There's no room to get under my stove or refrigerator, so my cats had to be creative.

My bathtub has a removable side panel (to allow access to the drain under it) and it doesn't quite reach all the way to the wall on either end. Last time I put it back on, I must have pushed it to one end, leaving a gap at the other big enough for Sune to get through - because this time, I took it off and he came zooming up the stairs to come sit on his "hoard" that he'd stashed under there (thankfully at the other end, away from the drain, so they were dry!) This time, I was more careful and put the panel back on centered, so there's not quite enough room for him to fit through. I expect he's already found another place to stash his toys though, because they are not in the toybox anymore.

Sepideh on the other hand, hoards those little fuzzy mice inside the sofa. Not under, but she climbs up from underneath into the wooden frame of the corner piece and sticks them all in the little hidey hole she found in there.

And I can tell whose stash is where, because Sepideh neatly de-tails all her mice before they enter the hoard :)

I think both my cats are half packrat.

Most of ET's toys are in his room, if ever any toy goes missing,it will somehow reappear again in his room when I have completely forgotton about it. Seriously, if I were to go searching for it, I won't find it (I have tried), ET will go digging it out from I don't know where.

ET doesn't carry his toy around in his mouth, at most he will kick it, hold it with his mouth and throw, so its unlikely he will bring it out of his room. About the only thing that had been missing for more than a year and didn't reappear, is a feathered tail from a mouse toy. The toy is still around but the tail part was missing, he didn't pass it out, its probably fully digested in his stomach cos its just 1pc of short and soft feather.

I agree with dt8thd that the toys go to another dimension along with those **** socks. I keep having to buy new toys cos they all eventually go missing! I need to somehow block the space underneath stove and dishwasher though...

That's why I keep my furball's toys in a box when I'm not playing with her. She's got a few toys scattered all day though that I usually do have to find every couple weeks or so. Under the bed, under the fridge, under the couch, etc.

Yes, look under things. The way for me to get Toby interested in an otherwise uninterested object is to put it under something for him to swat at. I'm convinced it's no accident. I've found that Toby seems to intentionally whack toys under things so he can have the game of attacking at them. When it's in the open it's no challenge/fun.

When Felix was a kitten, he had an unusual hiding places for one of his toys. One day, the bathtub drain was backed up. I did the usual stuff and just couldn't get it to drain. I was just getting ready to call the plumber and decided to give it one more try with the plunger. Lo and behold, one of the toy mice came out! He must have stuffed that thing WAY down the drain, because nothing was visible! Felix was watching the entire process and gave me a look that said "No one told me I couldn't put my mouse down the drain!" Needless to say I was glad I had not called the plumber. I dug around to find the stopper for the tub drain and Felix had to go back to hiding his mice under the refrigerator and the couch and the bed and the chair pillows and the...
