Only recently have I learned that using Hartz flea control on cats caused numerous deaths and other problems. I used Hartz maybe about a year ago on my cat. Now I'm wondering...sometimes her back will twitch every now and then. I never really thought to ask the vet about it since it didn't seem like a big deal and doesn't happen all the time. BUT could it be something related to the Hartz flea meds that I put on her?! I would NEVER have used it if I thought it there were any problems...I don't even know why it is sold! :shock: :x
Any thoughts?

I really doubt that your prior use of Hartz has caused the twitching.....I've never used Hartz and one of mine twitches his back all the time. Any negative affects cause by Hartz would have probably been noticed soon after applying it.

The reactions to products like Hartz are almost immediate if your animal is going to have one at all.

I have used Hartz and similar products in the past when I was unknowing and had no problems myself, other than that the products just didn't work! lol

I no longer buy things like that however.

About the back twitching, it's probably just something your cat does anyways. Just little muscle spasms they can get in any place, just like we do sometimes.

Do you think the muscle spasms are indicative of some health problem? I will definately ask the vet next time I go, but am guessing it is not something I need to rush to the vet for?

I know that hartz flea products will cause an almost imediate reaction! My cat Jerry almost died from this stuff before I knew what it did! A couple hours after I put it on him he was in sezures and twithching uncontrolably. Luckily he came through it and is fine now. I dont know what I would have done if he wouldnt have!

Sabby's back twitches on occasion too. I've never used Hartz flea drops on him and he currently has no fleas. I think it's just something they do.
