Has my neutered male cat impregnated his sister?

OK so a bit of a situation here… I got my male cat neutered the day before last. Then last night I witnessed him mate with his sister - just once. I have kept them in separate rooms since. She is still in heat but will remain indoors. Naturally, I’m worried she’s pregnant. I believe NOW that a male cat can still father kittens for a short period of time after being neutered… I am hoping that the fact she’s still in heat is an indication that ovulation wasn’t induced. He definitely only caught her once. I guess I won’t know for sure until a few weeks. I am hopeful that chances are extremely low she’s pregnant. But has anyone had a situation like this before?

His levels of testosterone will be around for weeks in cases, he'll act all boy BUT he can't release any semen. His sperm making bits are no longer there for him. I dont question your delay between de-sexing the cats, many vets (dont know why) prefer to not spay while in heat. On a lighter note, she may need therapy after being..well you know..by her brother. Welcome to the forum.

For those facing financial constraints but needing veterinary care, several avenues exist for assistance. Nonprofits like the Humane Society and RedRover extend financial aid or discounted services, while low-cost clinics provide affordable care, including vaccinations and spaying/neutering. Payment plans offered by some clinics help spread costs over time, and community resources like shelters may offer support programs. Additionally, veterinary schools offer low-cost care through teaching hospitals. Overall, these options ensure pets receive essential care while easing the burden on low-income individuals.

Good luck with your cat.

On an amusing note, I once had a male and female litter mates. The male had been neutered when I got them, but not the female. She went into heat and he instinctively mounted her for a few seconds before realizing he couldn't do that anymore!

My point is are you sure your male cat actually copulated or did he just mount your female?

I heard her make “that noise” after a female has been penetrated and when I rushed into the room she was making the usual throwing herself about after

Well, on a sort of humorous note, our daughter brought her neutered tom cat back from Oregon with her. She stayed with us a few years. (She quickly found a job & started working off her college debt.) While Mr. Tom was most definitely neutered, he developed a romantic fascination with an afghan on one of the beds. He would hold a corner of it in his teeth and, well...you know...purring all the while, followed by a long nap. We just ignored the behavior; no damage done to anything, and, hey, if it gave him some happiness, who were we to judge?
