Hello cat lovers.
I am adopting a two year old spynx cat next week, who is the most handsome gentlemen with cornflower blue eyes.
However we have a dilemma, I am a multi species household with ferrets and small dogs. The dogs are toy breeds and safe around small animals and socialise with the ferrets.
Regardless I think being moved into a new house is going to be stressful and I want to take things sensible and slowly. I live in a one bedroom flat which is sizeable but am trying to decided which room to set up as a safe room for cat.
(I have also purchased a dog gate)
I am considering the living room, in the day the dogs alternate between the bed and the kitchen and only snuggle on the sofa if I am in there. The glitch is I let them into the garden via the living room several times a day for a pee so we might have to change our routine and go out via the front door, less convenient but we don't mind if it makes kitty happy.
I have purchased a closed in litter box (recommended by his people) I have several types of litter but the catsan hygiene clumping is the one I would like to try out with him so I can scoop pee. (I scoop the ferret litter a couple of times a day regardless)
I have on order a scratching post, a petsafe heat pad and other toys his people have informed me he is partial too. And have plans to use the nooks and corners of the room to make cat shelves (lined with carpet) so he has the ability to escape up high should he wish to. And would like to purchase a door cat climber but intend to bolt/screw it to the hallway wall with another possible in the kitchen to keep his food up high; general idea is to think vertically for him.
He is also fed a raw diet but basic mince mainly so that will need to slowly adapt to include offel and bone because muscel meat alone is not healthy by itself.
So that is us and my little family and my thoughts thus far.
