Hello everyone.
I'm Jackie, and from West Yorkshire in the UK. I'm 40-something registered nurse, married with no children, and am joining the forum as I have always loved cats, and like to chat to like-minded people about them, without people thinking I'm a crazy cat lady.
I'm cat guardian to Holly, she's a beautiful young tortoiseshell (I think you call them caleco in the USA) who we rescued a year ago from a local cat shelter. We only have the one cat as Holly hates all other cats, and she is the Empress of our house. Also, I can't risk getting another cat due to my cat allergies, although I do manage with Holly as I'm used to her.

Welcome!

Tortoiseshells have different colors, but no white. I think. :) My twins are dilute calicos.

My sister had a black tortoiseshell who was a little terror. That coat pattern seems to come with a very dominant personality! We had a torbie (tortoiseshell tabby) colourpoint cat that hated other female cats but would accept males as long as she could dominate them.

Tortoiseshells don't have any or very much white on them. Calicos have the black and orange patches mixed with white and look like this:
