Yes, she's a stranger to your home so make sure she knows where the litter box is. Every few hours, bring her to it even if you don't think she needs to go. Just keep showing her the way to it so she knows how to find it when she does need to go. And yes, scratch it and dig in it with your hands showing her what to do.
I put a nightlight in the outlet closest to the litter box. Even though cats have excellent night vision, I figured it couldn't hurt.
