It's been 10 days since Jax's spay tomorrow, and I've just noticed a rather large bump all around her incision site. About the diameter of a golf ball, maybe a little smaller.

The incision itself seems fine.

She is supposed to go back tomorrow to get her stitches out.

We followed all of their instructions post spay and kept her separated from the dogs in a small bathroom for three days. We made sure that she took it easy these last 10 days, and she seems fine. Not in any pain, though she's more cuddly then ever before.

Is it possible that this lump is a hernia?

That's all I can think that it might be.

She was spayed where my mother works, by vet students with a vet/teacher supervising.

They neutered my dog without any problems about 4 years ago, so of course I would trust them to do a good job.

I'm worried.

Is this normal?

More likely it's a reaction to the internal sutures. But it's good they'll be checking her out tomorrow.
