HI, My name is Lee & I have 4 wonderful cats, I have a 6 month old female that I had spayed last Friday, I brought her home the following day & noticed that she was rasping & hacking, I also noticed she hasn't meowed, she seems to have no voice..I talked to my vet & was told this is normal after a spay because of the tube that was put into her throat & there is probably irratation, well tomorrow makes a week & she still has some hacking, althought not anything like it was, she is playing & eating but she still has no voice..She goes back to her vet next monday, but I am worried. What do you think? Thank you...Lee

Poor girl, I hope she is feeling better. My cat was recently spayed as well, I had some problems but nothing with the voice or throat...Is this normal to put a tube in their throat?

One of my kittens came back from her spay surgery with no voice. I don't know if it was because she cried a lot while she was there, or if it was due to something else. Her voice came back in about 5 days, but it was very raspy and thin for that time. She's all better now though.
