Sorry about the long post!!

I have a male cat(not shure what breed, maybe Tabby) about 15 or 16 years old. Up untill he was about 12 he ate only dry food. Then we started to feed him 2 cans of wet food a day along with the dry. When he was about 14 he had an abcessed tooth, we took him to the vet and they fixed it and he was fine. About 4 months ago he got where he wouldnt eat the wet food, just sniff it and look up, and start meowing because he's hungry but wont eat the wet food. Then we started feeding him chicken legs from chicken express or Churches. He ate them really good for about 2 months, the did the same thing as with the wet food. And now he doesnt really want to eat the dry food anymore. Do you think that his mouth could be bothering him again?? If it was a tooth, why would he stop eating the wet food and continue eating the dry?? Is he just getting tired of the same foods?? Do we just need to take him to the vet and see if they can find something?? If anybody knows anything please post something cause he is starting to loose weight. And he's always been a little big, never this small. :( Thanks!!!

Poor appetite and weight loss in an older kitty can be a sign of something serious...please take him to your vet for evaluation as soon as you can!

Cheers,
Dr. Jean
