I have a 12 week old kitten who (infrequently) nurses. Because I need to get the mother spayed I need to prevent the nursing completely so that the mother's milk will dry up. Seperating would be difficult (I will find a way if needed). Is there any other way to discourage nursing.

Mpther cat usually takes care of that herself by batting him a little bit, or by lying on her stomach so that the kittens can't get to the milk. If she's nursing only occasionally, that should be very soon. Kittens will keep trying until mother forces them to stop. Mother can get pregnant though, so watch her carefully and keep her inside. :)
