Ok, my cat just went in for her rabies shot today and when we got home she was acting a bit strange, i dont know if its because of the shot or maybe shes going into heat again because shes not fixed yet and i planned to get her fixed this week. well just a few minutes ago i picked her up and took her to the bathroom with me and sat her on the sink and she made a really mad sounding meow and she lifted up her butt and she had spewed chocolate milk colored liquid out of her vagina, i dont know if cats have their periods or what, but im sorta confused and shes done it like 3 times and its too late to call my vet. someone please tell me shes okay and that its normal because im concerned for her. Thanks in advance

I have never seen a female cat have a period. Female dogs do, however I do not belive cats do. I dont know what could be wrong with your kitty...however I really dont think it sounds normal. :?

I am really sorry I cant help more! I dont think many of the experts are online right now :? I think this should be in the cat emergency section to, but I cant move it there. I am sure one of the mods will move it when they return online!
Does your cat display any other strange behaviors? Is there any pain?

How old is your cat? Is there any possibility she could have gotten pregnant? Maybe the rabies shot is causing her to miscarry?

I wonder if it's some kind of infection? I'm no expert on menstruation, but when my parents rabbits did it was red.

I would call the vet in the morning. Most vets have an answering service and can usually have a vet call back or something. Also if your vet happens to not be this kind of vet, I would call all around and see if anyone is open and maybe ask the person who answers the phone to ask a vet if they can tell you if it is period or infection. I've had female cats before and I didn't see them have periods. I did see a little blood drip a few spots only right after giving birth but that was it and it was only 1 or 2 little spots. If she is an inside cat and hasn't been in contact with a male and cannot be pregnant I'd be a little worried as to what is happening. I don't mean to scare you or anything but I've never heard of anything like this happening before. I would suggest you call a vet even if its not your regular vet to see if she can get checked out. Also if she does it again maybe you can take a sample of it with a qtip and put it in a baggy. It may sound gross but it may help the vet if they can see a sample of it so they know. Keep us posted. Take care!! :)

Wow, I didn't know cats do that when they are in heat, this is all the more reason to spay too! I am glad you're taking your cat in to get it done and good luck! @@@

I'm still not sure about the chocolate milk substance...that still seems bizarre to me. But thank goodness your little girl has been spayed! Let us know how she's coming along.
