Here she is. Her name is Kelsey. She's a sweet little girl, getting over her shyness bit by bit. The poor pup spent her 6 years in a kennel as a puppy machine. The owner just raises litter after litter, and then keeps the best breeders and gives away the older dogs.

It's taking time to train Kelsey. It means a lot to me to watch her gain trust in me and other people. She barks when someone comes, so I think she considers this her home now. My heart aches for her when I think of the life she had before. She was neither obedience trained nor housebroken, so you can imagine how little attention she received. :( We have an acre fenced in, but not until she comes when called can I let her have the run of the property. When my son and his new Golden were here she was so happy to have another dog to play with, and she loves my son! It was such a joy to see her playing. Her behavior is excellent in the house too. I love her, of course. :heart

It has been four years since my last collie died, and I have been going through collie withdrawal ever since. I have been watching for an adult collie for two years now, with no success, so I think I was meant to have Kelsey. I hope I can make the rest of her life happy.

Amber wanted me to announce this weeks ago, but Jo had just got her dog, and I had injured my hand badly and could barely type.

Here's my new baby: Kelsey!

Kelsey is beautiful and it looks like she is settling in, nicely. How great that you get to make her last years the best, ever.

She looks like Quinnella, a collie my folks owned/showed with AKC in San Francisco in the 70s. Queenie (we called her BushyTail) had the dark ticked hairs over her shoulders, too. Our sire dog was Centurion and I remember he won many awards and ribbons. They only had one litter together and made some beautiful puppies that all but one went on to show homes. The one, stayed and was my pet.
Collies are such beautiful and loving dogs.

Jeanie, Congrats!

When you posted that you had been searching for something on Craigslist, I had a thought that it might be a collie. There was a collie on the Detroit list recently rescued from a similar situation, and I figured if you were looking for a Collie, then I might pass the info along (and offer to help transport). But you had found your Collie already!!! How wonderful, I am so happy for you! And her! She's beautiful :luv

That's so ironic! I had watched the Collie Rescue Site for two years, and right after I found Keisha, there were two lovely older collies available! And you had found one too. You're so thoughtful, Amber. Thank you!
