Does anyone have any advice for getting a terrified cat into a carrier, safely?
Chloe had an appointment today to be spayed. They needed her there by 8:30 this morning. I started the process at 7:45 thinking 45mins should be enough time.
Wrong.
By 8:30 I had her almost in the carrier twice, however she flipped and flopped and got away from me. And now won't come anywhere near me. Which is probably fine since I've been bloodied enough for one day, thank you very much.
So, I cancelled her appointment, and rescheduled for next week. They suggested I try to catch her the night before and bring her in then instead of the morning of. I've asked my aunt to come help me get her in the carrier since I suspect it will be a 2 person job since the furry one is SO quick.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get a cat used to the carrier? Or at least go in without so much of a fight? Is there something I can give her that may mellow her enough to not fight back so much?
I've left the carrier out in the hall so she can get used to it being out, how it looks and smells etc. But do you have any other suggestions?
