hi everyone .
i just bought today a bag of purina dry food ..... since i think its better than whiskas and has more protein in it ( what do you guys think ? ) .
so i need to know if i can immediatly just give her the new food or not ?
if not , then how should i introduce the new food to her ..
also i was worried about magnesium , whiskas has 0.10 ...... but i didnt see anything about magnesium on the purina bag !!

and one last thing .... my cat's bowl is always there filled with dry food ..... so she eats whenever she feels hungry and she never over eats ...... is that ok ? or should i just give her seperate meals on time ?

cheers.

This is just my personal feeling on this but I'm not crazy about Purina cat food. I used to feed my cats Purina ONE till I learned how to read the ingredient list on the back and decided that they were better off eating some that didn't have as many by products and preseratives.

In order to switch your cats food you have to slowly introduce the new brand. At first you want to put most of thw Whiskas down mixed with just a little of the Purina. Over the course of a week you want to slowly wean the Whiskas out and add more Purina till she's completely off Whiskas. This hopefully should prevent any stomach upsets.

As far as the magnesium content in Purina vs. Whiskas that's something you'll have to check with the company about if you don't see it listed on the bag.

If you've never had a problem with your cat gaining weight by free feeding(leaving her bowl filled all day) then what you're doing is fine. Just make sure with the new food that she doesn't gain weight because the calorie content might be higher or she might eat more of it if she likes the taste. I perfer to feed two seperate small amounts daily because I have three cats with the potenial to be overweight and they'd eat till they popped.
