Does anybody know why cats have a small lumpy thing in their neck? Ive had three cats all together, and all of them have have had the lump in the neck. I havent felt on my cats neck recently, but i think it was only on one side. Is this normal for cats, is it some kind of swollen gland or something? Its sort of just by the jaw bone area. Is this just something to do with the thiroid gland, or is this a bad sign? I do hope this is normal. My cat is very healthy, a little overweight we think, but she is very happy/healthy.

cats do have a couple wiskers on either side of their neck - could be that?

Stix had that when he was younger (4mths), the vet told me it was his salivary gland and it would probably not be as noticable when he got older. He was right, I can barely feel it now. I can't feel Kota's at all. Are you talking about the area almost under the chin, but towards the jaw?
