It's soooo bad! Yesterday night there was mosquito in my room & it bit me a few times & I eventually killed it after several attempts. Then another one flew around. I didn't kill it but I was fine for another hour so thought it went away. I woke up this morning & I was eaten alive!

I've got a bite on my arm & tons on my legs. Usually I can withstand the itch but the big moundy looking ones itched so bad I put some aloe cream on them & that made it more itchy & I actually itched them 8O

Every time I move my legs it itches! I can't cross my legs or walk anywhere without my legs feeling like there is something feathery crawling around making me miserable. Why do mosquitoes love me so much? If I am next to anyone, the mosquito will always pick me :(

Speaking of mosquito bites..........how in the heck do you get rid of the itchies anyway? I bought something from the drugstore called "After Bite". The main ingredient is ammonia. It really doesn't work all that great although it IS better than nothing. Anyone have any suggestions???

I got eaten alive at my new backyard the other day. Now I have giant welt like spots on my legs. The biggest one is about the size of a quarter, I showed them to my Dr. and he said that I'm highly allergic and the best thing to stop the itch besides benadryl was to get some baking soda and make a paste by adding water to it. He said to apply it to the spots everytime the itch. Luckily I've been at home so I can walk around with crusty legs! Good luck with your bites, now if I could get these spots to go away before I head to the beach on Thursday!

Bekki - Does the doctor know your highly allergic by just looking at the bites? I'm thinking sometimes I'm allergic too, my bites get HUGE 8O

Oh & I do eat plenty of garlic lol

The itch has calmed down after my shower but I just got bit again on my arm. Uhmmm, anyways I'm moving rooms for now.

This is seriously going to ruin my week. Why do these things always happen when you have something going on? Last week I even got a few bites under my foot!! Can you believe that?

Oh & about the itch, I've never tried Benadryl. My mom used to make a home concoction with pure aloe that worked ok. Otherwise, this is going to sound really strange.....I draw a circle around the bite & tell myself to not go inside the circle? Try it, it might work!

I know it's not healthy for me - but I go to a tanning salon fairly regularly when it starts to get warm each year. I don't know if it's the STUFF I use when I tan, or I'm just not tasty - but I've not gotten bit from a bug in literally YEARS.

My mom uses aloe and she's used Calamine lotion as well.

Feel better soon!!!

I hope you feel better soon. I'm allergic to biting insects, too, and the darn things love me. 8O I use benadryl, and rub Dr. Tichenor's on the bites. Baking soda paste sometimes, also. 8)

Try "Sting Stop" - the homeopathic ointment (health food store or drug store). It works really well - takes about ten minutes or so to start working, but then it really does make the itching subside, and for a long time, too...It is especially useful right before bed, so you don't scratch in your sleep.

If I have an itch I can't scratch, I usually scratch the same place on the opposite side. So if my right arm itches, I scratch my left arm.

Except for some reason I never scratch my left palm, under any circumstances, it's bad luck. I have no idea why.

I got bitten a few times in France, and I used a pen device with almost 40% ammonia in it. It worked perfectly.

Cold water can also help. Have a cold bath/shower.

My Dr. checked the spots and has been doing allergy tests with me for a while now, trying to figure out my sinus infection problems. He's determined that I'm allergic to insect bites, pollen, cats(cat dander), grass, dust, gravel dust, mold (any kind), and straw. The insect stings/bites are a new thing, I've never had welts and a rash type spot but my Dr. said because my allergies have gotten worse as I'm aging that I should expect to get the spots! He doesn't have me on an eppi-pen yet but I have a feeling by the time I turn 30 I will be! I've tried the baking soda and water paste and it does take the sting and itchy feeling out, you just look funny for a while! Daizy tried to lick it off my leg the other night! 8O

I would make an appt to see the dr if you're swelling up and getting a rashy spot. Better safe than sorry! I hope this info helps! :D

Bekki - What is an eppi-pen?

I would love to go to an allergy doctor but I'm not working right now & they are super expensive. Last time I checked it was going to cost me about $500 to test me & that's not including the medicine. I will wait until I work & have some health insurance before going to a specialist.

The mosquito bites I can handle (kinda) but the one on the back of my leg is huge & sooo red! It is the size of a quarter & it's not itching now but I put some Benadryl on it anyway. The first day was itching like crazy though.

My brother is saying it's a spider bite. It's quite possible, there are spiders in this house & it's scary to think it bit me while I was sleeping 8O

Could this be a spider bite you think? I doubt it's an ant bite or a mosquito :?

I have a friend who uses Listerine - the original medicine kind. Sprays it on areas to get rid of mosquitos and right on herself and her kids. She swears by it. Wish I had a magical answer for AFTER you're bitten. :(

I can't really see it well but it looks like mine! All of mine are on my legs. An epi-pen is a self-injectable epinephrine shot that usually you can give to yourself if you need it. Sometimes children can't give themselves the shot and adults have to help. My mom has one because she's severely allergic to bee stings. I've actually seen one used on a child because he picked up an acorn and he was allergic to nuts! He went from having hives and itching all over to normal again in about 30-60 seconds. My Dr. is not sure I'm severe enough to warrent an epi-pen but we've discussed it.

Healthcare in itsself is crazy. Even with insurance I pay out the wazoo for my sinus medication because its so expensive on its own! Its insane to pay $20.00 for the visit and then antoher $60.00 for medications. Its the same when I didn't have insurance, the visit was $60.00 but the antibiotics were $20.00 because they were generic! 8O My new medication is only in one form and its a relativly new nasal spray so they haven't marketed a generic one yet.

I got bit again this morning and I couldn't find mine so I used rubbing alcohol and that worked too. I think that stopped the rash from forming but I've got a huge welt on the top of my ankle.

I hope you didn't get a spider bite cause that's not cool at all!!! I hate spiders! You mentioned you didn't think it was an ant bite, though when I get bit by any ant (black, red, purple, green or blue) usually the entire area swells up and turns red. I had a bite once that was on my pinky toe and my pinky toe looked like my big toe! 8O From one little ant!

For future bites I would use benadryl and make some baking soda paste. I would only worry about it being a spider bite if it stays raised like a welt and hardens. More than likely its a pesky mosquito bite that gotcha good! I hope the bites go away soon!

Silly question but when you say medicine kind, do you mean the regular formula mouthwash? I would think it would be sticky since sometimes it gets on the counters & I hate cleaning that goo 8O

Rubbing alcohol does the trick too to stop itchies.

For future use, I want to know if I put on itch cream on Day 1 after this bite, would the bite of stayed smaller? I am wondering if it would grow big anyway or if I should always use itch cream even when it's not itchy?

My main concern is scarring. Sometimes potent bites leave a little darker mark on my skin so would like to minimize this as much as possible. 8)
