So, I had an excellent interview last Monday with a major botanical society...they have a very rare position opening up and they were very interested in me! My interviewee gave me her business card and said that if I have any questions or want to contact later, please do feel free to call or email her. I really want to make contact again and make more of a mark on them. But what should I say? I can't call and say "Have you hired me yet"...and it seems pretentious to just email and say "Hi!".

So...any recommendations?

After an interview I have often sent a simple hand written thank you card. Thank them for taking the time to interview you and mention somthing about the company or the job that you liked. Then tell them that you would like the job and hope to hear from them soon. Doing this sets you apart from the other people being interviewed.
Good luck I hope you DO hear from them soon.
