Hi,

Sam is at the vet as I type. My husband noticed this morning that he wasn't up to his usual tricks (walking on keyboard, getting in lap, etc)
and was instead hiding.. very listless, hadn't eaten, had that squinty-eyed don't-feel-good pity-me look. He dug him out and brought him to the vet where he was found to have a kidney infection & a fever.

Sam's history:
UTI's every 5 minutes. Blockages every 3 minutes. Finally a urethrosoto..
urethrasotomy?...that operation that makes HIM a HER.. I can't spell it!
Anyway..no more blocks since the operation which was in the fall

I haven't been able to talk to the vet yet. My question is simply.. has anyone else had a cat succeptible to every cat ailment ever? Does anyone
know if cats prone to UTI's & blockages are doomed to be prone to
kidney infections as well?

Help!

Sam Again...

Thanks for the replies -

As it turns out he got some tests done and it's NOT his kidneys, apparently, but some other sort of infection that they can't place quite yet. He still has his mid-grade fever and is on fluids and antibiotics. I'm not sure if this is a relief or not. I've heard that cat-kidney problems are a life long thing. I will hear from the vet shortly but I'm very worried about my boy! He was so pitiful when we visited him last night and definitely wanted to come home with us. He knows this routine all too well. I have several pulls in my sweater now.

As for his diet, he's on a special food already, CD I think it's called, dry food. He won't eat the wet stuff, we tried several times. Would you recommend something else?
Thanks for your help!
