So to make it short

- 12 week old Kitten fell off the stairs
- Had serious head trauma
- Has spent the last 4 days at the vet hospital taking everything from steroids to dexasone.
- She came last night, did great until like 4 am and had a seizure and then had small tremors
- We took her back to the vet, they don't know why she is having tremors but she's back at home, has had only one tremor and is sleeping now.

So my questions are

1. Has anyone dealt with head trauma, how long does it usually take before we would know if she is going to get better
2. Is fast breathing something to worry about
3. What if anything can we do outside of her medication.

I am thinking about taking her to a specialist but the distance to the closest one and the cost are real limiting factors.

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. She should be seen by the vet again, or perhaps another vet for a second opinion if a specialist is out of the question. I haven't had cat with head tauma before, but it doesn't sound good what she's experiencing. I would be concerned about the fast breathing. It may be temporary and she'll get better, but on the other hand may not. All the best, I hope it's the former.

They had her on steroids and an Oxygen Cage to reduce the swelling on her brain

She is actually at home now, she had one more tremor when we got her home but it seems the medication to reduce her brain swelling has helped a lot. She is still sleeping a lot and her sight is pretty poor but she is eating, moving around, just acting a little bit more like a kitten so that's good.

The vet advised that we wait five days till her medication is done to see if she doesn't improve, if she does then we'll prob move onto a bit more medicine and if she doesn't at that point she'll have to see a specialist.

Ya my main fear now is her sight, she gets lost very easily and always steps in her water bowl.

The doctor said her eye sight should come back once her medication is done as she is slowly improving each day but you know, it would be great to see her able to move around without one of us having to shadow her.

Well a little update, she is def out of the woods, she's interacting with the other cats, her eating is back to normal.

My main concerns now is the completely 180 in her personality, before this she was a huge cuddle bug who loved to try and stick her mouth up your nose, now she never purs, doesn't like to be held for too long, and when she gets bad she'll take a swipe at you.

So relieved to hear the good news! She's probably still in some pain and discomfort, I know my cat acts like that when something is upsetting her.
