I have two cats, one just turned a year 2 weeks ago and is now on adult food. The other is about 6.5 old and absolutely loves the adult food. I tried to feed separately but she is very sneaky and manages to get that adult food. When she does this, there is only her kitten food left over for my 1 year old to eat, and I don't want her on kitten food anymore. So, would it be okay to just switch both to adult food? Or should I try harder to separate the feedings?

Also, it may need to be taken into account that she seems small for a 6.5 month old. She is a siamese mix, and when weighed, is an appropriate 6.1 lbs, but she is tiny. (she is just very solid and strong).

Thanks guys!

Your Siamese-mix at 6.5 mos. is still growing and won't be mature until at least 10-11 months old, so I'd keep her on the kitten food until then.

I'm with doodlebug, all life stages foods are a better pick.

The big difference between 'adult' and 'kitten' formulas is that there's more fats and proteins (aka the stuff your cats need to be healthy) in kitten food. Those are the ingredients that cost the companies more, so as soon as they can get away with putting in less they will. All life stages food will provide the correct amount of nutrients to both cats, you just need to regulate how much they're eating.

I'd suggest feeding in meals, offer the food for 15-20 minutes, then remove it until the next meal. Your kitten should have food offered at least 3 times a day, and that's generally the best schedule for the adult as well.
