Kitty won't keep wet down...

Hi all,

So yeah, I'm sure everybody here knows of Gizmo, my little tabby cat. One day, I decided to switch him to wet cat food, he used to be on dry. Now the problem:

He recently started to throw it back up...:sad2.

My problem, I don't know the cause or how to stop it. He's thrown up on the floor, a couch, and I'm trying every trick that I know to make him stop. He's only recently started doing this, and he's acting fine otherwise, his usual spunky kitty self. All this started not to long ago, he was fine eating it before now.

He has recently started inhaling it (for lack of better term) almost like he's afraid he's not getting another meal, so I'm guessing that's the cause, to cope I tried breaking up feedings so he's not eating so much at once, but he's thrown that up, and right now I'm trying to isolate him so he might not feel the need to rush, so far it seems to be working, but it hasn't really been going on long enough to know for sure.

From looking at his accidents, it almost looks like he is rushing to eat, so if there are any other ways to work around this, I would appreciate it...

P.S. I know this probably sounds more behavioral, but I didn't know where to put it, here or there, so here it is.

Put a couple of clean golf balls in his food bowl. He'll have to slow down his eating if he has to eat around the balls and then lick all of the food off of the balls.

Thank you for the advice, it never occured to me to give that a shot.
If it's happening fairly frequently then I'd get him to a vet. It could just be him eating too much too fast but it could also be something more serious. Better safe than sorry.

I wish I had paid more attention when Ziggy was vomiting. Looking back, I think it might have been the beginning stages of his cancer. We always want to think it's nothing serious, but sometimes it is.

Thankfully so far he's keeping it down, and when it did happen it wasn't that frequent, just scary (didn't think it would happen so suddenly), as it only happened twice. His food was also obviously not chewed as they looked pretty whole from just first glance. You'd think he'd just dragged his food around the house.

Yeah, I was definitely concerned at first, but now I'm thinking he just inhales his food and I have to slow him down (golf ball idea is a good one, will try that).
If the golf balls don't slow him down, you can spread the food thinly over a plate. It sounds like he gulps his food too fast with a lot of air with it and that makes him barf.
Thank you for the tip as well.

I figure as a last resort I'll switch him back to dry if it helps, as he never did this with dry food. However, this gives me two good ideas to see if he can keep his wet food down.

Thanks again.
Update

Hi all,

Just wanted to let everyone know, I did have to switch him back to dry. His accidents refused to stop, no matter what I did. He is doing very well right now and once I switched him back to dry he hasn't had an accident since.
