Leaving out wet food

I've been using different grain free wet foods, like Wellness Kitten. Sometimes Artemis will eat it all at once, and other times he will eat it in a couple of sessions over an hour. Rarely I will see it there more an hour.

Most people I know just leave it there, if it isn't eaten by the next day, clean it up. I'm wondering how long it can be left out and still be eaten because he may go back and graze on the wet like he does on the dry.

Do you leave wet food out until it becomes hard or do you clean it up after an hour or so, consider it waste and move on?

Ummm....ET eats very little in the morning and day, so I usually feed just 2 tsp of wet to make sure he finish up. Most times, he don't clean up his bowl, if its just a wee bit, I'll leave it, but occasionally, he will eat only 1/2 of it. What I do is, add some kibbles, bring it to him, he will lick it all up.

I know sometimes, he will deliberate not finish his 2tsp of wet just so I can add kibbles, so I don't wanna add kibbles all the time. Sometimes, I'll just have to waste some wet, though I know if I add kibbles, he will certainly lick them all up.

I do the same thing- wet gets put out in the morning and if there's any left when I get home from work (10-12 hours later), it gets thrown out and fresh is put out. They usually eat all of their dinner, and then they get a wet food snack before bed. Anything left in the morning gets tossed. I know how much they eat, so there usually isn't anything left in their bowls, but with the extra hot weather lately, they have been eating a little less some days.

i can't leave it out because my cat on a diet will just go eat it if i leave it for the thin one, but until i figured out that was how it was going, i'd just leave it out and it was always gone in at least 3-4 hours. i don't think it ever had a chance to get hard.

if you want to leave some out overnight and it isn't gone in the morning, i'd probably dump it because after a certain point (usually if it's crusty) they won't eat it.

I feed 1/2 of 3 oz. can when I get up and then right b/4 I walk out the door 30 min. later I empty the can in the dish, when I get home (10-12 hrs. later) it is usually gone and I give a little over 1/2 of 3oz. can and right around bedtime I give him the rest of the can and it is usually gone by morning. So leaving it out hasn't presented a problem of spoiling that I know of, hasn't made him sick and I have been doing this since first of April.

I myself usually dont leave it out all day. Sometimes she's not crazy about it and I just leave it a while and she'll eat it, but I dont leave it out all day. Mostly, Katniss just eats what I give her though in one go so I don't worry about it much. Sometimes if she's not that hungry I'll just pick up the plate and cover it and put it in the fridge till later, you could try that, I really don't waste canned food, and she will pretty much eat it later.
