I'm surprised I haven't seen this mentioned here. Does anyone else use the Litter Robot??

I do, and I love it! It's an automated litter box, and it does an awesome job. Everytime the cats go, they trip a sensor and it cycles 6 mins after they get out and the waste drops into a sealed drawer. It's quite pricey.... but it was well worth every penny I spent on it... Hi Shauna... No, actually my cats thought it was a new toy for them when I first bought it. I had no trouble getting them to use it, in fact I had more trouble getting them out of the box! LOL Everytime they heard it cycling to clean, they would come running to watch it spin!

Then again, my kittens were only 6 months old when I bought it 2 months ago... so they found the spinning of the globe fascinating. They figured out how to trip the sensor to get it to spin, and for the first couple of weeks they constantly had it running so they could watch it spin! :roll:

I'm not sure how an older cat would react, they might be a bit more skittish about using something new like this. But I've heard people eventually get them to use it, after some training. It's well worth it, I can't even possibly imagine using a regular litter box again... this thing works great, just as they advertise!

I was going to toilet train our next cat, but I like this second one a lot. It has granulars already in it. When a cat finishes his business, it shoots water and soap/disinfectant into the box and washes the litter. Then flushes the waste away. Afterwards, it has a dryer to dry the litter.

I got the huge mega littermaid and love it. My cats aren't very fascinated when the motor runs but Sugar loves to poke her head over my shoulder when I clean out the box. She has to know what I'm doing and why! :wink:

I've read some pretty bad reviews on the 2 boxes posted above, but I've never personally tried either one of them to judge or give my opinion on them. But I've read with the Litter Maid, everything gets caught up in the rakes and they have to constantly be cleaned... and the Litter Free smells up your entire house while it's running it's dry cycle...

I was considering purchasing the Litter Free box you have posted above (the one that hooks to the water line), but there's another forum I visit that gives reviews on all the different types of litter boxes out there, and after I read the reviews on it... I changed my mind quick. That box turns out to be very pricey in the long run... not to mention the company that makes them went out of business. So I would use caution if considering buying the Litter Free box (It's not cheap either). You also have to buy cleaning solution and granules for it... and the supplies are very difficult and expensive to get since the company went out of business.... plus I've read that while the dryer is running, your entire house smells like cat feces... YUCK!!

The Litter Robot had the best reviews, so that's what I decided on. I really didn't want to fork out that much money for a litter box... but I'm really glad I did now! I've had great luck with it so far (knock on wood!). No special supplies needed to maintain it, and you can use pretty much any kind of litter in it.

I have the Littermaid, and am very happy with it. On occasion the rake does need to be cleaned off. I use a litter scoop to do that. That can't compare with having to clean the box personally and having the odor until you do. I think we are never 100% satisfied, but I'm 98% at least.

I think I'll ask for a Littermaid for Christmas! Isn't it bad when we want presents that are actually for our cats? My friend at work got a Littermaid because she was pregnant. Her older cat was scared to death and started peeing in the basement. Her kitten loved it and actually jumped in it to pee before they even got the litter poured in! With my luck, my kitties would be scared, too. Kitty and Sophie are such scaredy-cats!

Twinkie is the most chicken cat I know! Sometimes I think he is a chicken instead of a cat but I know if Twinkie can handle the Littermaid and its loud motor, I'm positive your cats will get used to it too! :lol:

My old roommate (who no longer lives with me) had got one of those for her cat. My cat and hers would always watch it when it raked the litter.
It upset Stormy for some reason though...she started pooping on the carpet. I thought for a long time that it was my roommate's cat doing it, but she swore she saw Stormy doing it. She would poop a few feet away from the litterbox. This happened I would guess about 10 times? Then finally she stopped but she has only just now (months after the new litterbox was gone) started covering her poop up again in her non-robotic litterbox. Let me tell you, that stank up the whole room when she didn't cover it up! I'm glad she is covering again!
