I recently purchased two Persian kittens. Both seemed to be litter trained at first, however one has started going potty behind our love seat. Both are 10 weeks old and one weights 1.4lbs and the other is only .75lbs. They share a Mega Littermate. I have not figured out which one perfers the love seat but I supect the smaller one. I'm only letting one out at a time until I figure out which one is doing it.

I'm trying to keep a better look out for this and I realize that they are very young. Can anyone give me some helpful ideas on how to stop this behavior?

Thanks,

ETCPO

What I'd recommend is putting them in a room that's easily cleaned, like a bathroom maybe, and let them get use to that room and using the litter box in that room, and then slowly let them gain access to the house one room at a time. If you have a large house, you might want to buy additional litter boxes. Kittens usually can't hold it very long, and find the most convientant place to go potty.

Try leaving them both in the same room as the littermate for a few days and see if they use the littermate the entire time. Make sure you let them out under your supervision until they learn not to use the potty anywhere else. Oh and put water and food in there too so they don't go hungry...

You have to clean the area really well with enzyme cleaners so the cat cannot smell the odor from that area and so they won't use the same spot again. Try to put something over it after you clean it too so they don't go on it again until they use the littermate all the time. Good Luck
