What dietary needs does a 14 year old kitty with lymphoma and FIV need to have? There's a customer at my store who I've gotten to know, her kitty, Tiger Boy, is pretty sickly right now. I'm considering hosting a benefit to help him get more treatments. For now, what should she feed him? The vet put him on Royal Canin (ummm... yeah...). Right now he needs as many calories as he can get. His stomach is extremely sensitive, too, since he had a mass in his intestines though it's gotten smaller.

This is Tiger Boy.

Normally I recommend raw but I've read many times that it's not recommended for FIV kitties because they're more at risk for contracting illnesses than your average cat. Most cats handle normal bacteria loads in raw meat just fine, but I'd be cautious with an immunocompromised kitty.

I'd recommend trying a grain-free canned food like Wellness, Merrick, Blue Buffalo Wilderness, or EVO. Good quality animal protein and fat should hopefully give him the nutrition he needs to keep his strength up!
